Russia is known for Vodka, Red Square, Matryoshka dolls, ballet, first human in space, Tolstoy and its flamboyant Metro Stations. Sadly Putin is also infamous. The fantastic cities of Moscow and St Petersburg are amazing to visit.

Russia: St Petersburg

St. Petersburg is a Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It was the imperial capital for 2 centuries, having been founded in 1703 by Peter the Great, subject of the city's iconic “Bronze Horseman” statue. It remains Russia's cultural centre, with venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre hosting opera and ballet, and the State Russian Museum showcasing Russian art, from Orthodox icon paintings to Kandinsky works.

Austria: Igls

The district of Igls centers on its namesake village, a charming resort at the foot of Patscherkofel mountain, with lifts to ski slopes and hiking trails with Alpine views. The Olympia Eiskanal offers bobsled rides down a chute built for the 1976 Olympics, and the Lansersee is a small lake popular for swimming and ice skating. Cozy restaurants in villas, chalets, and mountain huts serve hearty Tyrolean dishes.

Latvia: Christmas Market

This small Baltic state squeezes Art Nouveau architecture, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Riga's old centre and and sticky black balsam into its eastern European borders. It is home to a vast array of animals and birds including lesser spotted eagles, otters, beaver, deer, wild boar, elk, red fox, lynx, wolves and 7,000 breeds of stork!

Greece: Ionian Islands – Bayan Blue – 2007

The Ionian Islands are part of Greece and lie off the country’s west coast, in the Ionian Sea. The northernmost island, Corfu, has an old town with Renaissance, baroque and classical architecture. Corfu also features the 19th-century Liston, a promenade on the central square, with arcades and cafes. The 15th-century Old Fortress is nearby. The Palace of St. Michael and St. George is home to the Museum of Asian Art.

The Czech Republic has homegrown large firms, such as Skoda, Budweiser Budvar, Pilsner Urquell and Bata. That's a car company, a shoe company and two beer companies. The Czech Republic is sometimes called the “castle capital of the world.” There are more than 2000 castles and castle ruins in the country.

UK: Scotland Crianlarich & Ben More 2006

Crianlarich is a village in Stirling council area and in the registration county of Perthshire, Scotland, around 6 miles north-east of the head of Loch Lomond. The village bills itself as "the gateway to the Highlands".Ben More is a mountain in the Breadalbane region of the southern Scottish Highlands, near Crianlarich. Rising to 1,174 metres, it is a Munro and is the highest of the so-called Crianlarich Hills to the south-east of the village. There is no higher land in the British Isles south of Ben More.

France: Cannes

Cannes, a resort town on the French Riviera, is famed for its international film festival. Its Boulevard de la Croisette, curving along the coast, is lined with sandy beaches, upmarket boutiques and palatial hotels. It’s also home to the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, a modern building complete with red carpet and Allée des Étoiles – Cannes’ walk of fame. GRASSE, France — The town of Grasse sits in the hills above the more famous French Riviera city of Cannes, and it doesn't have the Mediterranean Sea at its doorstep. What it does have is fields of flowers — jasmine, May rose, tuberose, lavender. It is known as the perfume capital of the world.
