Kenya 2022: Giraffe Centre

The Giraffe Centre is located in Lang'ata, approximately 20 kilometres from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in order to protect the vulnerable giraffe, that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa and is an extension of the grounds in which Giraffe Manor is located.

🙂 Up close and personal with the giraffe manor giraffes!

🙁 Nothing negative to report

We had a day to kill in Nairobi as our flights had been brought a day forward due to BA cancelling their scheduled Saturday flight. We had planned to visit Giraffe CentreSheldrick Trust and Karen Blixen Museum. Our driver was Tony Kago: +254 723 497894 – highly recommended safe driver.

After a lovely breakfast we headed straight to Giraffe Centre – very quiet and very reasonably priced when you consider that we paid $800 per person per night at Giraffe Manor seen in the background in 2020 (OK – it was worth every penny!!) … we had only obtained a booking due to Covid – our friends said that they had tried and were fully booked for two years! We enjoyed an excellent laughter filled hour with these crazy creatures. There is a curio shop and you can buy tea and coffee and snacks. You are provided with a little snack pot to feed the giraffes and they wander from person to person accepting treats. MUST do when in Nairobi – so much fun.

I will let the photos do the talking!
