USA: Zion & Bryce Canyons 1995

Bryce Canyon National Park, a sprawling reserve in southern Utah, is known for crimson-colored hoodoos, which are spire-shaped rock formations. The park’s main road leads past the expansive Bryce Amphitheater, a hoodoo-filled depression lying below the Rim Trail hiking path. It has overlooks at Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point and Bryce Point. Prime viewing times are around sunup and sundown. - SPECTACULAR! Zion Canyon, is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to 2,640 ft (800 m) deep. The canyon walls are reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone eroded by the North Fork of the Virgin River.

🙂 Stunning!

🙁 Just spectacular!

We left Vegas as there as no affordable accommodation available and decided to head to Bryce Canyon to camp. We had not showered for 5 days while camping in the back country of Yosemite so we headed eagerly to the shower block! It was so good to feel clean! Bryce Canyon is truly like a magical fairyland… the mini intricate rock formations in varying shades of pink was just amazing – we took photos at each of the vantage points – stunning. Just WOW.

We slept in until 08h00 and played with kittens before driving into Zion Canyon. The weather was clear and sunny and we loved the spectacular road trip. Simply stunning. Once we arrived in Vegas we headed to Hoover dam.
