Turkey: Sailing 2018

A gulet is a wooden classic yacht built usually in Bodrum or Marmaris from the southwestern coast of Turkey. The average size of the gulet is 20 to 30 meters in length and feature 4 to 8 cabins. All gulet type boats come with a crew and they are used for private charter in different countries. Gulets can explore parts of the coast that larger boats cannot – like tiny, floating, boutique hotels. Often known as 'Blue Cruises' in a nod to the sea and the sky which surround you, gulet cruises are a tantalising mix of tradition, luxury and sublime relaxation.... AMAZING!

🙂 Cath’s 50th! Turkish Delights! All nighter! Beautiful scenery! Shopping Excursions. Ballet Lessons!

🙁 Everything was perfect!

This was the most magnificent 50th generously hosted by Catherine on a Gulet in Turkey (via Erkan at Ariva Yachting with Captain Bahadır Celik) – we met at school when we were 6 … it was just one of the best girly weeks of my life…Amazing. The photos say it all! There were 13 of us: Catherine, Debbie, Sally, Pip, Tracy R, Lisa W, Isa, Jo, Natanya, Jody, Carmen, Dee and Samantha – we all got on so wonderfully – friends for life.

Tracy R (another friend since we were 6 years old) and Pip (a friend from High School) and Isa and Natanya (a sister of a school friend) all flew in from the UK to Dalaman. We met up with the others and took the transfer to Gocek port where we boarded our Gulet.

It was so cute watching teeny, tiny Sally board the boat (another bestie from primary school!).

The boat was DIVINE. Tracy R and I were roomies – although we slept up on the deck every night!

What follows is a series of photo which are not in chronological order!
