USA: New Orleans, Louisiana 1995

New Orleans is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed the "Big Easy," it's known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties.

🙂 Such a cool vibe! Jazz sounds all around….

🙁 Poverty, stench of vomit from open gutters

Arrived at 14h30 and took a cab t our Youth Hostel – Huge Room! Bathed and took the trolley to the famed French Quarter – bars were buzzing to the tune of the sax and jazz bans in every corner – divine. It would have been SO cool if only Paul and I … but less suitable for Trent… Had nice dinner and a Hurricane cocktail. Passed a gay bar with the most gorgeous looking men! Took trolley back after a great evening out…

The next morning we took a trolley to the riverboat casino to get dollars. Had brunch next to the Mississippi River – very lovely. On our way walking to the French Quarter we stopped at a shop and bought a pair of Raybans each… then the guy conned us into spending $240 on a ridiculous night vision lens which started off at $1,399 – what idiots.

This is the type of photo it takes.

Next train was heading to Florida….
