USA: Hawaii Wedding & UK Reception 1995

Paul and I arranged a whirlwind wedding on Beach in Hawaii with two friends who had flown over as witnesses. It was a gloriously beautiful day with Trent participating in the vows we made while dressed in native sarongs, grass skirts and coconut shells! Paul's Parent's did not quite approve of this look for our wedding photo on their mantlepiece and arranged for a more formal wedding reception on our return to the UK in early December with friends and family! Double wedding!

Our friends had already been in Hawaii for nearly two weeks before my visa finally got approved! This meant that on landing we picked up a Yellow Pages in our hotel room and looked up ‘weddings on the beach’. We got in touch with Reverend Howie and arranged our wedding there and then for the next day! We arrived promptly at his beach home for champagne and photos with parrots and then moved onto the actual beach where he provided a blessing and asked Paul and I to take each other’s hand in marriage and whether Trent accepted us as his Parents – very moving. Had to keep adjusting my coconuts, but apart from that it was a lovely ceremony! Chris passed the rings to Trent who in turn passed them on to us. We will let the photos do the talking!

After the wedding we enjoyed a fantastic Teppanyaki where the Chef was called Tracy! We spent the next few days enjoying what the island had to offer. We spent some time at Hanama Bay snorkelling . We spent time at Waimea National Park and a Polynesian Cultural place where there were cultural themed shows. We also went to Sunset Beach on North Shore (where they have the big surf waves). We did a Trolley (tourist trap) and a cruise around Pearl Harbour (bombed on my birthday).

Our limo to the airport!

On our arrival back in the UK we had a splendid Wedding Reception at Jack’s golf course. It was a brilliant reunion to catch up with everyone that we had not seen for the previous year while travelling and a wonderful celebration.

The After Party in the Pub was great fun!
