USA: Las Vegas & Hoover Dam, Nevada 1995

Las Vegas, often known simply as Vegas, is the 25th-most populous city in the United States, the most populous city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. The Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area is the largest within the greater Mojave Desert, and 2nd-largest in the Southwestern United States. Walk - in marriages are common place and are legally binding. Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

🙂 Nothing positive to report.

🙁 Hellhole. Sad. Been there, done that and did not even buy the t=shirt. 🙁

AKA Sin City – Because of the male-focused entertainment and soaring crime rates, Las Vegas earned its notorious nickname, Sin City in the early 1930s. Mobsters assimilated into the scene, bringing criminal activity with them. Soon, prostitution and other shady businesses started to rise in the area. It is a sad place. You get free alcohol and cigarettes if you play the slot machines – luring people into further debt and depravity. Tragic.

We left Flagstaff in the Grand Canyon and took a Greyhound to Vegas which arrived at 05h20.

Had breakfast at the Plaza for $1.69!!! NO Vacancies at any hostel or affordable accommodation! So we hired a car at Rebel Rent a car and headed off to Zion & Bryce Canyon instead!

The next morning we headed back to Vegas after visiting Zion. We had lunch at MacDonalds and headed off to check out Hoover Dam which was quite impressive but very busy.

We headed to Circus Circus and took turns in spending $25 each gambling. I won $100 but soon fed it back to the hungry slot machines! Don’t think we will ever return to this den of inequity where the super rich flaunt their wealth in the faces of prostitutes, drug addicts and gambling addicts – it truly reflects all that is wrong with our world.
