UK: Yorkshire

Yorkshire is a historic county in northern England. It’s known for its Roman and Viking heritage, as well as its Norman castles, medieval abbeys, Industrial Revolution-era cities and 2 national parks. The county town of York, founded by the Romans, is home to 13th-century cathedral York Minster, Tudor houses and medieval walls. The interactive Jorvik Viking Centre recalls the area’s 9th-century Norse occupation.

🙂 Star Inn – Great decor, great food! Lovey scenery,

🙁 Deliberately burnt down in November 2023 and had to be rebuilt!

We had been invited to the amazing Michelin Star, Star Inn in Herome for a 50th birthday so we made a road trip out of the weekend.

The Star Inn was amazing with an African vibe!

We did a lovely 10mile walk with beautiful scenery.

Fountains Abbey was a particular highlight. Tucked away in rural North Yorkshire, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Park is a gem. The huge site includes the ruins of the largest Cistercian monastery in the United Kingdom, splendid Georgian formal water gardens, and a medieval deer park. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years, becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution, by order of Henry VIII, in 1539.

Such a delightful part of the world…

A great roadtrip!
