The Inca Trail is by far the most famous trek in South America and is rated by many to be in the top 5 treks in the world. In just 26 miles (43km) it manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and, of course, a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels. The final destination of the trail just cannot be beaten: Machu Picchu, the mysterious "Lost City of the Incas".
Vinicunca, also called Montaña de Siete Colores (Mountain of Seven Colors), is located in the Andes in the Cusco region of Peru. In order to get to the trailhead, it’s a three-hour drive from Cusco. To get to the lookout at 5,200m is about 10Km. The views are spectacular but do be cautious of altitude sickness.

Morzine is a ski resort in the French Alps, close to the Swiss border. It’s part of the 650Km Portes du Soleil ski area, linked by lifts and cable cars. Partially forested slopes have summer trails and bike lifts. The Col de la Joux Verte pass climbs from Morzine to the higher-altitude resort of Avoriaz, near the Hauts-Forts mountain. In the village, restaurants and bars cluster around Route de la Plagne.
Saalbach-Hinterglemm is an Austrian Alpine resort town, southwest of the city of Salzburg. It’s known for its ski areas. A network of lifts provides access to the ski circuits of the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Mountain bike trails criss-cross nearby Reiterkogel, Kohlmais and Schattberg mountains.
The Lake District is a region and national park in Cumbria in northwest England. A popular vacation destination, it’s known for its glacial ribbon lakes, rugged fell mountains and historic literary associations. Market towns such as Kendal, Ambleside and Keswick on scenic Derwentwater are bases for exploring the area and home to traditional inns, galleries of local art and outdoor equipment shops.
Lake Louise is a hamlet in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, known for its turquoise, glacier-fed lake ringed by high peaks and overlooked by a stately chateau. Hiking trails wind up to the Lake Agnes Tea House for bird's-eye views. There's a canoe dock in summer, and a skating rink on the frozen lake in winter. Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 1,884 metres. The lake has a surface area of 50 hectares.
Lake Minnewanka is a glacial lake located in the eastern area of Banff National Park in Canada, about five kilometres northeast of the Banff townsite. The lake is 21 km long and 142 m deep, making it the 2nd longest lake in the mountain parks of the Canadian Rockies. Banff is a resort town in the province of Alberta, located within Banff National Park. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline. On Banff Avenue, the main thoroughfare, boutiques and restaurants mix with château-style hotels and souvenir shops. The surrounding 6,500 square kilometres of parkland are home to wildlife including elk and grizzly bears.
The district of Igls centers on its namesake village, a charming resort at the foot of Patscherkofel mountain, with lifts to ski slopes and hiking trails with Alpine views. The Olympia Eiskanal offers bobsled rides down a chute built for the 1976 Olympics, and the Lansersee is a small lake popular for swimming and ice skating.
