SA: Ngwenya Lodge – Southern Kruger National Park

Ngwenya Lodge is situated on the southern tip of the world-renowned Kruger National Park on the shores of the Crocodile River. This means that you do not even have to leave the resort to see a huge variety of game species – including the famous Big Five. The river view chalets overlook a scenic floodplain, which allows for magnificent views of the area where the big cats often hunt and elephants graze daily. The units have fully equipped kitchens with a stove, fridge, freezer and a microwave. Each unit has a television and an undercover veranda with patio table, chairs and a braai, for unforgettable get-togethers with family and friends. Ngwenya’s on-site facilities include a pub, a beauty salon with a wide range of treatments, a curio shop, a small convenience shop, 6 outdoor swimming pools, 18 hole Mini Golf course, 2 tennis courts, trampolines, jungle gyms, a games room with pool tables, table tennis, Playstations with Xbox Kinnect, a kiddies room with various board games, puzzles, and kids movies. It was the perfect October half term break for our family for a very many years.

🙂 Our little piece of heaven on earth…

We were so fortunate to be able to purchase our Timeshare Units on Hippo Bend at Ngwenya Lodge – the GBP was great against the Rand and they were highly affordable and provided the BEST October Half term breaks for our family for years. We have since passed them to the children for their 21sts so that they can enjoy the same bliss with their families as we have done. So many wonderful memories with close friends and family who have joined us here!

2009

Our first ever visit to our timeshare and we fell madly in love with this wonderful part of the world! Denise and Sake had also bought a timeshare in the same time period and joined us with Aris and Nic…so wonderful… we even had lions from the deck!

2010

This was a lovely visit with Mary and Warren with a surprise drop in from Nick who was on his way back to UK from Dubai via SA. My cousin Linda also popped in for a welcome visit.

An ellie broke through the fence right next to our HB44 and had enjoyed munching on the fresh vegetation in our flower beds!

2011

This was a great trip with the Barrows, Newlands and Whiteheads and Emma Gunning – we had such a wonderful time. The highlight was Nick’s bakkie – every time he put it in reverse it hooted and dispersed the wildlife!

2012

This was a special year as we had the Roest Ellis’s and Mary and Warren joining us. Caits brought Miriam and Charlotte brought Max and Trent brought Ali – it proved to be a magnificent adventure! Our flight was delayed by several hours and two ladies who were lunching at Wentworth Golf Club mentioned that their son’s flight were delayed by several hours – Max’s Mom and Ali’sMom are great golf friends but never put two and two together until they mentioned Earwaker! 🙂 Denise and Saki popped by for a drink – wonderful to catch up.

We went for a horseride as one of our excursions.

2013 – Harrisons and a special visit from my Uncle Chris and Aunty Diana.

2014: Charlotte’s 18th Celebrations at Ngwenya where we stayed in the 10 sleeper Hippo Hills.

2015

Our 2015 trip was with the Coes – our three godchildren and we had booked Hippo Hills again and which is on the river next door to our units on Hippo Bend. The sunsets were spectacular.
