KZN – MANYONI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE: Rhino River Lodge

At 23,000 hectares, Manyoni Private Game Reserve is one of the largest privately-owned reserves in KwaZulu-Natal. It was formed in 2004 when 17 landowners committed to wildlife conservation and dropped their fences to create one protected wilderness area in Zululand. The reserve was chosen by the WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Project to home a founder population of black rhinos. It is 30kms north of Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. We were invited to join the two Grooms on their BuddyMoon and stayed at Rhino River Lodge.

🙂 Amazing wildlife

Ken and Geoff kindly invited about 15 of us on their BuddyMoon with them. We had enjoyed several days in Ponta do Ouro in Mozambique and were ending on a high here at Rhino River Lodge in Kwa Zulu Natal near Hluhluwe. It was quite amusing as on our first sunset drive we emptied the bar for sundowners and they had to go into Hluhluwe to replenish stocks – that is what happens when you have a bunch of Kiwis, Ozzies and SAFFAs together for a BuddyMoon! 🙂
