Seychelles

The Seychelles is a paradise with deep blue waters teeming with sea life and gorgeous, unspoiled shores. A few hundred metres from the Capital island of Mahe, connected by a bridge over the ocean, lies Eden Island - one of the most prestigious island marinas in the world. Over 56 hectares, with more than 16 hectares of private waterways, Eden Island is a residential marina development.

THREE things that we did not know about the Seychelles:

  1. The Seychelles was once a pirate hideout, in particular Anse Forbans (Pirate’s Cove) on Mahé and Côte d’Or on Praslin. It is believed that famous pirate Olivier Levasseur hid a treasure worth more than $160,000 that remains unfound.
  2. The Seychelles has some of the rarest endemic birds, including the bare-legged Scops owl, which is so rare that it was once thought to have become extinct before being rediscovered in 1959.
  3. Breadfruit is very popular on the Seychelles and can be eaten in a variety of ways from fried to boiled. Legend has it that anyone who eats it while on the islands will return someday.

A pretty stunning flight in!

Our friend Russell had invited us to stay with him at his place in the Seychelles. A stunning place on the water – we felt very lucky to be his guests.

Within the island is a great little restaurant which does divine cocktails.

Every Wednesday there is a nightmarket at the Beau Vallon beach. Locals make campfire and make music. A lot of local food and drinks are available for affordable prices and it has a great vibe.

Pretty spectacular sunsets too!

The beach near Russell has white sand … divine.

Pretty cool wildlife…

Russell took us out in his boat for some deep sea game fishing – we got lucky!

Of course we released….

Diving was fantastic.

Russell took us on a tour of the island.
