UK: Norfolk

Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Broads National Park and nature reserves of international importance, north Norfolk is a haven for wildlife and birds, and great for walking. As Norfolk is the driest county in the UK, it's perfect to visit all year round.

🙂 North Norfolk is still really wild

🙁 All very pleasant!

After reading Robert Macfarlane’s ‘The Wild Places’ (Pg 241 onwards), Paul and I set a date to visit his brother in Norwich and for us to spend some time in North Norfolk. We booked into the beautifully appointed quayside Blakeney Hotel …highly recommended – great food, lovely views and cosy fires … idyllic. Be careful where you park as the road is prone to flooding when it rains!

We did a lovely walk around the hotel and on the flats for sunset….quite spectacular.

We did a National Trust Boat trip to spot seals – pretty cold but we were lucky to see them

Cookies Crab Shop was a worthwhile stop due to their excellent shellfish and a hot chocolate to warm up! We drove into town and a stroll around the quaint shops.

We ended our trip with a stop in Norwich – very interesting to walk around – Northeast of the centre, medieval Norwich Cathedral is a Romanesque building with ornate cloisters. Two imposing gates, St. Ethelbert’s and Erpingham, lead to the Tombland area, once a Saxon marketplace.
