Portugal: Madeira – Day 10 & 11 – Deep Sea Fishing … and Farewell beautiful Madeira…

The big game fishing charters in Madeira target Blue Marlin, Tuna, White Marlin, short bill Spearfish, Albacore, Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo. Bottom fishing produces all kinds of smaller reef fish like Snapper, Jack, Sea Bream, Skate, Dentex and many other local species.

🙂 Reid’s Palace.

🙁 No fish!

We were woken with another fantastic room service Breakfast of Eggs Benedict – perfect start to the day.

We then headed to the Marina excited for our half day of Deep Sea Fishing and Whale Watching which we had booked through Our Mary Big Game Fishing We were met by a cute family who had actually lived in Cape Town for 25 years before returning to Madeira! We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon cruising the waters with Captain José unfortunately no bites….despite the ridiculously large lures!

Then we headed off on a sunset cruise which was rather special – this was supposed to have taken place on our first evening but the skipper had come down with Covid so it was re-arranged on another boat. A fitting end to a wonderful holiday.

The next morning at the airport was chaos as Madeira was going Amber so every single Brit on the island had booked their ticket home – our flight was completely full and finally took off about 4 hours late – but we managed to get home safe and sound and happy!

To end we will share some amusing road signs spotted on our trip!
