🙂 Best Glamping location on earth!
The drive to our glamping spot called Canto das Fontes was an excitement in itself as we drove through a waterfall which cascaded onto the road.
This hidden treasure is situated on the cliffs 100 meters above the beach of Anjos, a small village between the Ponta do Sol and Madalena do Mar, on the sunny west coast of Madeira. Access is via steps but there is a lift for the luggage!
There are two tipis and a yurt available. Our ti-pi was spacious and very comfortable. There is an eco outside toilet which uses black eco biodegradable toilet paper. The outdoor shower was hot and powerful – wonderful!
A few steps up and you are in your own private kitchen which is fully equipped including fridge, stove and magnificent views – very Robinson Crusoe! A further few steps up and you find yourself in a large communal ti-pi for relaxation. It is very well designed.
Th swimming pool is invigorating as it is fed from the fresh spring waterfall cascading down into it. This combined with the sound of waves and singing birds sent me into a relaxed stupor…! The familiar wafts of tropical floral perfume from my youth added to the whole experience, particularly as my childhood home home had a banana plantation and papaya trees….bliss. I will let the photos do the talking.
As sunset approached we headed to the kitchen and cooked our deliciously fresh prawns in coconut.
We watched the sunset and then relaxed in the communal tent which we had all to ourselves. The calls of the cliff birds were quite eerie!
We were so excited to have our extortionately expensive fruit for breakfast – what a disappointment – the man on the fruit stall had clearly added sugar to all the samples that we tasted! Oh well, lesson learned!
It was with a heavy hear that we left this jewel of a find…highly recommended!
Back we headed off through the waterfall road…
