Sweden: Jukkasjäarvi – Dog Sledding and Skidoo Adventure

Another adventurous day exploring the Arctic Lapland followed by Michelin star fine dining!

🙂 Exhilarating driving the dogs. Exciting driving skidoos. ADVENTURE!

🙁 Nothing negative to report.

Another beautiful morning! After breakfast we harnessed our dogs and set off. A different experience in the daylight. Rather perturbed by the dogs defecating whilst running at full speed!

Daytime Sledding

It took us two hours to get back to base where we enjoyed an alcohol free lunch as we were heading out on skidoos in the afternoon. Interestingly when we collected our skidoos the leader stated that there was someone in the party who had partaken of alcohol at lunch time and they would not be able to drive – so just as well that we had obeyed the rules!

The skidoos are actually quite difficult to drive and follow grooves in the snow. We had an incident when Michael and Elisabeth headed into deep snow and the skidoo capsized onto them! Thank goodness that they sank into the snow and were not injured. It was great fun but the coffee and cheese break around the fire was very welcome as it started to get quite cold. It is always good to make Fika! Snow angels are also always an essential!

Skidoo!

It was definitely time to head to the Ice Bar for bubbles before our farewell meal.

What a magnificent grande finale to a wonderful weekend with dear friends. THANK YOU both for your generosity which knows no bounds – we were truly spoilt and loved every single minute.
