🙂 Being back in the bush.

🙁 COLD in the mornings!

We were excited for our stay at Black Rhino Lodge in Pilanesberg. It had only recently opened and was reasonably priced. We were not disappointed.

We set off at daawn … it was a chilly morning!

We watched buffalo drinking from a hide.

A Momma kudu and her baby were also enjoying a drink.

Warthogs of course never miss an opportunity to wallow!

Although thi schap was having a snooze in the morning rays despite the Indian Mynah giving him grief!

Stopping for a drink is a tricky task for giraffes!

The zebras were pretty chilled while the impala preferred a salt lick.

A steenbok was trying to hide from us but th springbok was unperturbed.

We also had some ellies in the distance.

It was a treat to see some rhino.

This giraffe looked like it did not have a neck! 🙂

Whereas this giraffe was skin and bone! 🙂

Back at the lodge lunch was delicious. We enjoyed watching the giraffes coming for a drink at the waterhole.

After lunch we napped and had a swim befor our afternoon drive. This scarred hippo was already out of the water having an early dinner.

The dassies (rock hyraxes) were sunning themselves. The ververt scratched. The zebra stared. The wildebeest wondered. The guinea fowl focussed.

Just when we thought our luck on cats was down we found this pride!

It was a quiet afternoon but we enjoyed our sundowners. We did find leopard tracks but could not find the elusive feline…

Dinner around the boma was good – and we spotted an owl!

A short but sweet stay!
