UK: Scotland – Camping & Kayaking – Arisaig 2013

Arisaig is a village in Lochaber, Inverness-shire. It lies 7 miles south of Mallaig on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, within the Rough Bounds. Arisaig is also the traditional name for part of the surrounding peninsula south of Loch Morar, extending east to Moidart. Etymologically, Arisaig means "safe bay".

🙂 North Coast 500. Otters. Scallops. Stunning.

Warren invited us to join him doing his favourite thing in his favourite place – WOW. This is the best kept secret of the United Kingdom – spectacular and pristine white beaches … quiet…blissful. A quick flight into Inverness and then you are a stone’s throw away from this little piece of paradise. We had stocked up on provisions which we packed into the kayaks and then we paddled out to a little island. An oyster catcher had laid eggs but the tide came in and took them. It was just incredible. IN the morning we could hear a ‘clapping’ sound – it was stranded scallops which we fried up with garlic – just delicious. We took a walk and enjoyed some time watching sea otters frolicking in the water. WE picked fresh mussels and cooked them in wine and cream … Magical. We will let the photos do the rest:
