Arctic Cruise: Day 3

Day 3: Sunday, 26th June 2022 - Dinosaur footprints! Polar bear bones! Spectacular scenery. Released from Isolation!

Itinerary: Longyearbyen – Hornsund – Boltodden & Negribreen – Wilhelmoya – Texas Bar – Monaco Breen – 81 Nord – Ny-Alesund Glacier – 4 July Glacier

Up at 7am for grapefruit and toast room service breakfast. Collected for our excursion. Incredible 30 cm large footprints of the cretaceous Iguanodon, a vegetarian dinosaur species.

Next to this we found the remains of a polar bear which had perished here as well as some poop!

Another fascinating excursion!

Headed back to boat and enjoyed Lunch for one while watching Planet Oc3an – an excellent documentary. We then had Covid Tests and all tested negative so were released! Able to join the full excursion with the Red team. Spectacular sea ice. It is as clear as a diamond and tastes like pure sweet water. Very cool to in the boat moving through the ice.

After the excursion we were able to enjoy our first cocktail in the lounge with other guests – theHouse Special created by the Chief Barman who had worked previously in London. Nessy and I giggled at how funny we looked with our Arctic jackets in compared to the glamorous singer! 🙂

We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant: Escargot, Fish – delicious. Then back to the bar for a night cap and a little dance – great fun but missed Paul.
