UK: Camping Durdle Door 2014

Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England. It is privately owned by the Weld Family who own the Lulworth Estate, but it is also open to the public. Thomas Hardy (one of my favourite authors) had lived in Dorset for much of his life, was familiar with the Dorset coast, and had used Lulworth Cove (under the light disguise of 'Lulwind Cove') as the location of Sergeant Troy's disastrous swim in chapter XLVII of Far from the Madding Crowd

UK: Kew The Music – Human League

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a non-departmental public body in the United Kingdom sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. An internationally important botanical research and education institution, it employs 1,100 staff. Kew the Music is a series of outdoor picnic concerts held annually at Kew Gardens - great fun!

UK: Camping: – Hope Cove, Devon 2013

Devon is a county in southwest England. It encompasses sandy beaches, fossil cliffs, medieval towns and moorland national parks. The English Riviera is a series of picturesque, south-coast harbour towns including Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The South West Coast Path follows the coastline, taking in the towering cliffs of the northern Exmoor Coast and rock formations on the fossil-rich southern Jurassic Coast.

UK: Camping – Isle of Wight 2013

The Isle of Wight is an island off the south coast of England. It’s known for its beaches and seafront promenades such as sandy Shanklin Beach and south-facing Ventnor Beach, which is dotted with vintage beach huts. Dinosaur remains and fossils can be seen in areas like Compton Bay and Yaverland Beach. On the island’s western point, The Needles are 3 huge, white chalk rocks, guarded by a 19th-century lighthouse.

UK: Cavalry at Sandhurst

Tent pegging is a race, usually a team race or relay, where a rider and horse aim to knock down a peg with a stick, or pick up a peg on a lance, as fast as possible. This historically emerged from the attacks by Arabian Muslim cavaliers on enemy camps at dawn or late night, where they would gallop to their tents and pluck out the pegs of their tents and setting them alight, so that these would collapse on them, thus causing havoc and terror in the camp.
